Meijer Buys Properties; Dunham Sports Coming Soon

ALPENA, MI -The Alpena Mall has never been known to be a destination Alpena Mallshopping place even after it first opened back in the very late 70’s.

The mall has watched as various tenants have come and gone. But maybe there is hope yet for a property that needs a better vision.

The Alpena Mall was bought about a year ago in a foreclosure sale.  We are starting to see hope rising for the southern corridor on US-23 South in Alpena.

Dunham's SportsDunham Sports will move from its current location at Bear Pointe Plaza and will occupy the space that originally was KMart at the southern end of the mall property.

Construction has been underway for a couple of months now on the requirements to move into that space.

Northshore Furniture recently moved from its location at Washington Avenue and Ripley to the Alpena Mall also.

Meijer recently closed on the purchase of the various parcels of property that it wanted near M-32 West and Bagley.  This is the next step in seeing the meijer-1new Meijer being built starting this spring when the weather breaks.

Infrastructure for the construction has been underway for some time now.  Anyone paying attention will see large new power lines and poles near Walmart extending across M-32.

It will be a very welcome sight to see the south side of M-32 cleaned up of old buildings that have sat for so long and unused.
