Active Meth Lab Discovered in Oscoda
OSCODA, MI – Acting on a tip, STING Narcotics Officers and members of the Oscoda County Sheriff’s Department launched an investigation concerning an individual who had purchased items that are necessary to manufacture methamphetamine.
Thursday evening authorities entered a residence in the 400 block of South Gerber Road in Big Creek Township in Oscoda County at about 8 o’clock and discovered a 19 year old male was manufacturing meth with an active “one pot” lab. The young man was taken into custody.
The State Police called in their response team to assist with the clean up, evidence collection and disposal of hazardous materials. Assisting with the investigation were U.S.F.S. Law Division Officers, the Tri-Township Fire Department and Oscoda County EMS.
Three officers required treatment for minor irritation from ingesting toxic fumes. An elderly man who also was in the residence was transported to a nearby hospital for precautionary reasons.
Formal charges are pending against the 19 year old. One other man at the house was questioned and released. Other suspects may also be charged from this investigation.
