Suspicious Bathroom Activity Leads to Mans Arrest


TRAVERSE CITY, MI – On October 17, 2014 at 11:30pm, a report of a disturbance was called in from the Walgreens store manager near South Airport and Garfield Road in Garfield Township. arrest6

The report was that two men had been in the bathroom for forty-five minutes and left after being loud and disorderly in the store.




A Grand Traverse Sheriff Deputy located the men walking near Wright Drive. The men said they were changing into dry clothes in the bathroom because they had been outside in wet conditions for twelve hours.

The deputy identified the men and checked them for wants and warrants. One of the men was released, but the other, a 26-year-old Traverse City resident, had three outstanding local warrants.

The man refused to be taken into custody, and was handcuffed after a short struggle with the deputy and a Michigan State Police trooper who was providing back up. There were no injuries on either side.

The man was lodged at the Grand Traverse County Jail for the outstanding contempt of court warrants and one count of Resisting and Obstructing Police.

A small baggie containing a powdery substance was found in the man’s pocket. The substance will be sent to the lab for analysis. If the substance is unlawful to possess, additional charges may be requested.
