4 Arrested in Sanilac County for Malicious Destruction spree


SANILAC COUNTY – The Sanilac County Sheriff’s Office is investigating several Malicious Destruction of Property complaints that occurred overnight in Lexington and Worth Townships. police-line-do-not-cross-investigation-graphic

On Wednesday, December 10, 2014 at approximately 2:35 a.m. Sanilac County Central Dispatch received a 9-1-1 call from a resident in the 5000 block of E. Aitken Road reporting that someone had just thrown rocks at his home and smashed out his vehicle windows.

The caller reported hearing a vehicle that had a loud exhaust leaving his residence. As Deputies were investigating that complaint Central Dispatch received several other calls within an hour period reporting smashed out windows to the front of their homes and to their vehicles.

According to Sgt. Nate Smith, while Deputies were checking the area they spotted a vehicle matching the description as reported by several callers and initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle on Townsend Road near Babcock Road in Lexington Township. Four male subjects ranging from 18 to 19 years old from the Croswell and Deckerville areas admitted to Deputies that they were bored and had done the damage.

All four male subjects were arrested and lodged in the Sanilac County Jail on charges of Felony Malicious Destruction of Property.

In total the Sheriff’s Office received seven separate complaints from residents who sustained damage to vehicles and homes.
