Action taken against Southfield Area Insurance Group


LANSING, MI – The Michigan Department of Insurance and Financial Services (DIFS) has ordered Ray Coleman, Midwest Insurance Group, and RPM Insurance Group (RPM) to cease and desist from selling, soliciting or negotiating insurance policies. RPM Insurance Group

A 2014 DIFS investigation found that Coleman, who is unlicensed and not authorized to sell insurance, violated Michigan Law by:

Selling, soliciting, or negotiating insurance without receiving the training or license required;

Maintaining the website www.rpminsurancegroup.com to solicit purchases of insurance by Michigan residents living in Macomb, Oakland, and Wayne counties despite not being licensed to engage in the business of insurance in Michigan; and

Issuing fraudulent automobile insurance policies through a fictitious insurance company, Midwest Insurance Group. Midwest is not authorized to issue insurance policies in Michigan.

“Through our investigation, it became clear that RPM has not complied with state insurance laws which were put in place to protect consumers,” said DIFS Director Ann Flood. “DIFS advises consumers to only conduct business with entities that are properly licensed.”

Failure to comply with the DIFS order could subject Coleman to a civil fine of up to $30,000 and criminal prosecution.
