STATUS: Part-Time (Non-Exempt) / Level 7

WAGE: $14.51 per Hour

DESCRIPTION:
It is the policy of the Osceola County Correction Facility to use part-time correctional staff resources primarily to assist the full-time staff and inmates. The duty responsibilities that shall be performed in the Osceola County Correctional Facility by part-time correction officers or correction officers who have not received the hundred and sixty (160) hours of correctional training are as follows: assist in meeting the needs of the facility and the inmates by providing direct services and by serving as an interface between the facility, inmates, and the public. Their primary duty is to supplement the services, activities, and functions of the full-time correction officers of this facility.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum standards set by the State of Michigan include: U.S. Citizenship, 18 years of age, High School Diploma or equivalent, valid Operator’s License, and no felony convictions. Must have taken and passed the Michigan Sheriff’s Coordinating and Training Council written examination (test is proctored by EMPCO). Taken and passed the Local Correctional Officer Physical Ability Test. Prefer Associate’s Degree in corrections. Experience as a Corrections Officer preferred but not necessary. All correction officers shall receive local corrections officer training (160 hr) within one year of employment, plus at least twenty (20) hours of training each year.
