Family and Friends to hold Rally in Support of 19 yr old who Shot Two Detroit Police Officers
DETROIT, MI – 19-year-old Juwan Plummer has a long road of legal battles ahead of him since the night that he fired a gun through a window and shot two Detroit Police officers.
His family and friends are holding a rally for him in the 20000 block of Lesure at 6:00 p.m. today, Friday April 21st, 2017. At this time that is the first step in helping to pay some of his upcoming legal bills. Anyone who wants to show support for him is welcome to come to the rally.
A Go Fund Me account had been established but it was suspended because of the serious nature of the charges that he is facing.
Juwan has been released from the Wayne County Jail on bond as of Thursday.
Plummer has been charged with two counts each of the following crimes: Intentional Discharge of a Firearm in a Building Causing Serious Injury (20 years); Intentional Discharge of a Firearm in a Building Causing Injury (15 years), Felonious Assault (4 years). He has also been charged with four counts of Felony Firearm (2 years consecutive). If he were to be found guilty on all of the charges as they currently stand, he is facing no less than 20 years in prison.
The incident occurred on April 16, 2017 at 11:45 p.m.
Those close to Juwan say that he was frightened and wanting to protect his family from those who had tried to break into their home. He was unaware that two Detroit Police officers had responded to the residence based on a call that was made to 9-1-1 of a Home Invasion in progress. He thought the burglars were back on the porch wanting to enter the home to rob the family. Plummer fired a weapon from inside the house striking both officers. Plummer was arrested at the scene.
Fortunately both police officers are expected to make a full recovery.
