Woman Identified from confirmed Overdose case in Tuscola County


ELMWOOD TOWNSHIP, MI – Tuscola County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a home on Dodge Rd in Elmwood Twp. near Cass City after midnight on Thursday April 20th, 2017 for a possible overdose.

Upon arriving they found a 26-year-old Caro woman dead at the scene. The victim has been identified as Emily Lynn Dennis of Caro.




The Sheriff’s Department reports that there were several overdoses in the Cass City area that evening. It is unknown at this time if authorities know who is the supplying narcotics to area and if they do know, will charges be forthcoming in the future.

The boyfriend of Emily Dennis was arrested after police arrived to the scene on a parole violation and he may face additional charges pertaining to this case.

The two were together doing Heroin.  He had to be taken to the hospital because he had overdosed. After he was released they went home and did more heroin, which led to Dennis’ death.

He is currently being held in the Tuscola County Jail.  His name has not yet been released.

Tuscola County Sheriff’s detectives have conducted several interviews concerning the case.  They have also collected further evidence.

In a recent post to Facebook Emily wrote “Live everyday like its your last… Stay happy and do whats best for your family!!!”  She leaves behind a young daughter.

An autopsy was scheduled for Friday April 21st, 2017. No further information is available at this time.

The Tuscola County Sheriff’s Department was assisted by the Thumb Narcotics unit.  The incident remains under investigation.

Services for Emily Dennis are entrusted to Ransford Collon Funeral and Cremation Services of Caro.
