30 yr old Lapeer County Woman being Investigated for Drunken Hit & Run Accident


MAYFIELD TOWNSHIP, MI – On Thursday May 18th, 2017, at 3:25 AM, Lapeer County 911 dispatched Lapeer County Sheriff’s Deputies to Bowers Road near Farnsworth Road in Lapeer (Mayfield Township) for an injury traffic crash.

An area resident reported that a pedestrian was struck by a vehicle. The vehicle fled the crash scene. The caller identified the vehicle as a light colored Chevrolet Monte Carlo.




Jonathan Paille, 32-years-old, from Lapeer, was walking west on Bowers Road. Street lighting is not available in this area and Paille was wearing dark color clothing. Paille was positioned near the center of the westbound lane of Bowers Road.

Paille was struck by a westbound Chevrolet Monte Carlo. There is information that the vehicle and driver initially stopped after the collision. After stopping, the driver fled the scene.

Lapeer City Police Officers and Lapeer County Sheriff’s Deputies started a search of the Lapeer area for the vehicle. A Lapeer County Sheriff’s Deputy located the unoccupied vehicle within a city owned parking lot behind the Pix Theatre in Lapeer around 4:20 AM. The vehicle had damage from the collision.

Lapeer County Sheriff’s Deputies visited numerous residences attempting to locate the registered owner. The registered owner accompanied by legal counsel visited the Lapeer County Sheriff’s Office shortly after 10 AM on Thursday 05-18-2017. It was established that the registered owner was the driver of the vehicle at the time of the collision. The driver (30 years old female from Lapeer) is cooperating with this investigation. The driver was released while this investigation continues.

Paille underwent emergency surgery on Thursday 05-18-2017. Paille remains hospitalized at McLaren in Lapeer in serious condition with non-life threatening injuries.

Intoxication (alcohol and/or drugs) are potential contributing factors. This remains an active investigation by the Lapeer County Sheriff’s Office. It is anticipated that the investigation will be presented to the Lapeer County Prosecutor’s Office for formal criminal charge review within the near future.
