Arrest made after 8 month Drug Investigation in Berrien County


BENTON TOWNSHIP, MI – On Thursday July 13th, 20177, SWET-West detectives along with members of the Berrien County Sheriff Department executed a search warrant for narcotics in the 1200 block of Parkway Dr. in the Township of Benton.

This search warrant was a result of an eight month long investigation into the distribution of cocaine and marijuana. One subject was lodged as a result of this search warrant and detectives seized over six ounces of high grade marijuana, ammunition, several prescription opioid medications, numerous drug packaging materials, a vehicle, and over $500.00 in cash.




The Southwest Enforcement Team (SWET) is comprised of sworn law enforcement personnel from the Michigan State Police, Marshall Police Department, Barry County Sheriff’s Department, Kalamazoo County Sheriff’s Department, Kalamazoo Township Police Department, South Haven Police Department, Covert Police Department and the Berrien County Sheriff Department.

SWET is funded in part by the Michigan HIDTA (High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area) as well as the U.S. Department of Justice, Byrne JAG grant.
