22 yr old Arrested after Road Rage Incident in Ionia County


PORTLAND, MI – On July 27th at approximately 4:00 in the afternoon, Ionia County Law Enforcement officers were dispatched to the area of westbound I-96 near the Portland area in reference to a road rage incident involving a firearm. Ionia County Sheriff’s Deputies were able to locate the vehicle and with the assistance of the Michigan State Police conducted a felony stop on the suspect vehicle.

The vehicle was occupied by a male subject that was identified as Tyler Fennema, a 22 year old man from the Grand Rapids Area. Fennema was subsequently taken into custody and lodged at the Ionia County Jail. Several firearms were located inside the vehicle. Nobody was injured during the event and it remains under investigation at this time.




Fennema was arraigned today on charges of assault with a dangerous weapon, felony firearms, and 2 counts of carrying a concealed weapons. Fennema is being held at the Ionia County Jail with a $10,000 bond.

Assisting on scene was the Michigan State Police, Ionia County Central Dispatch, and Reed and Hoppes Towing.
