Manistee County Sheriff working to Capture Inmate on the Run [Updated]


UPDATE: Inmate Jasper Hill has been taken back into custody! He was located and arrested by deputies from the Wexford County Sheriff’s Office just moments ago.
 
Arrangements will be made to return Mr. Hill to the Manistee County Jail.

MANISTEE, MI – The Manistee County Sheriff’s Office is attempting to locate an inmate who was granted a short term furlough to visit an ailing family member.  However the inmate never returned to the county jail.

Jasper Zachary Hill, 26-years-old, originally from Mesick, was incarcerated in the Manistee County Jail.  Hill was granted a temporary furlough through the 19th Circuit Court on Tuesday August 8th, 2017 releasing him from custody from 9:00AM until 5:00PM.  It was at that time that he was to return to the jail but did not do so.




Jasper Hill is described as:

Racial Identification: White
Gender: Male
Hair: Brown
Eyes: Green
Height: 6′ 1″
Weight: 170 lbs.

He was wearing tan/khaki pants and a green Michigan State Spartan long sleeve sweatshirt with a white logo on the front chest area. At the time of his temporary release he did have a beard.

According to his family Jasper Hill was last seen yesterday afternoon at the Dollar General in Mesick when he fled from a vehicle and ran into a wooded area.

Authorities have learned through the investigation that Hill had allegedly made some threats toward a fiance’ of his ex-girlfriend, who is believed to be living in Cheboygan County.

A bench warrant has been issued for Jasper Hill’s arrest.

Hill was on probation when he was originally arrested.  According to Michigan Department of Corrections records, Jasper Hill was previously convicted for:

  • Unlawfully Driving Away an Automobile – Attempt
  • Driving With License Revoked or Susp
  • Police Officer – Fleeing – Fourth Degree
  • Stolen Property – R/C $1000 or More But Less Than $20,000
  • Stolen Property – Receiving and Concealing – Motor Vehicle
