DETROIT, MI – On Saturday September 16th, 2017, CeaseFire Youth Initiative in partnership with 105.1 The BOUNCE radio station team will sponsor ‘Comedians N The Community’ where Detroit comedians and radio personalities will board up and clean in and around three abandoned houses in Northwest Detroit.
Detroit radio icon Reggie Reg Davis, the founder of CeaseFire Youth Initiative, discussed the project; “These properties have been abandoned for more than 2 years and have become complete eyesores endangering our children being open to trespass by criminal elements. Neighbors have also complained about unpleasant odors and overgrown shrubbery around these houses,” said Davis.
Comedians helping board up the houses include Darryl Earl, Mike Bonner, 105.1 The BOUNCE’s Foolish, Gello and Reggie Reg Davis, J. Bell, Toney Roney, Kool Aide, Bobo Lamb, Horace H.B. Sanders, Melvin Bender, Martez Jackson, Martini Harris, Snow Cone and emerging artists.
CeaseFire Youth Initiative, the T. Ramsey Group and John George’s Blight Busters will assist with the board ups. Motor City Grounds Crew landscaping will cut grass and trim shrubbery.
Davis reminds Detroit why CeaseFire Youth Initiative was established, “In 2001 I lost my baby brother Vito to gun violence. Five young men between the ages of 17 and 20 were responsible for my brother’s assassination but instead of condemnation I understood that those young men did not have a father nor older brother to steer them in the right direction leaving the streets to guide them. I forgave the killers and went on to establish CeaseFire Youth Initiative Inc, a non-violent conflict resolution advocacy organization aimed at curbing youth violence,” said Davis.
