Federal prosecutors want to slam the cell doors on Kwame Kilpatrick and Bobby Ferguson for many years in the requested sentences in long-awaited memorandums filed by prosecutors in U.S. District Court.
Prosecutors are seeking between 20 – 30 years for Kilpatrick and 14 – 28 years for Bobby Ferguson. Kilpatrick and Ferguson are long time friends who were found guilty of mass corruption while Kwame Kilpatrick was the mayor of Detroit. During the five-month trial, prosecutors referenced damning text messages and testimony from dozens of witnesses about cash payoffs, bribes and extortion.
Bobby Ferguson and Kwame Kilpatrick will be formally sentenced next week, October 10th, 2013 by U.S. District Judge Nancy Edmunds. The ultimate decision of how long the two will spend in prison rests in Judge Edmunds hands.
How long do you think they will get?
