ALPENA, MI – Laying one’s life down for their community is the ultimate sacrifice. “Project Blue Light” began in 1986 to honor a Philadelphia police officer killed in the line of duty. The ceremony now honors law enforcement officers and firefighters across the nation who have made the ultimate sacrifice and those who continue on the job.
On Wednesday, December 4th, 2013 at 7 P.M. at the APLEX in Alpena the local police and firefighters will be hosting a “Project Blue Light” ceremony. Residents are encouraged to attend. Candles will be lit to honor officers from the area and those with ties to Alpena, as well as others who died in the line of duty. Residents are also encouraged to add blue lights to their Christmas tree or display a blue light in a window.
