LANSING, MI – Health Department officials are encouraging everyone to get vaccinated against the flu. The Department of Community Health has upgraded the level of flu activity from “local” to “regional.” The peak of seasonal flu typically comes between January and April.
Michigan health officials are encouraging people to get vaccinated after seeing an increase in cases of influenza and following the death of a child. The Michigan Department of Community Health said the child died from the flu in mid-Michigan and hadn’t been vaccinated.
The elderly and those with compromised immune systems should consult with their doctors as soon as possible.
