22 LB House Cat Traps Family in Bedroom

PORTLAND, OREGON – It is usually aggressive breeds of dogs that catch the himalyanheadlines in newspapers for being unruly.  This time, not so.  It was a 22 pound Himalayan family cat with a bad temper that gets top billing.

A rampaging, 22-pound black & white Himalayan with a “history of violence” attacked a baby and trapped a family and their dog in a bedroom.  The incident started when the cat scratched a 7-month-old baby in the face Sunday night.

The father of the child spanked the cat in the rear end which sent the cat into a violent screaming rage which could be heard on the 911 call.  The parents, baby and their dog sheltered in a bedroom as the father called police.  Meanwhile, the cat proceeded to block the bedroom doorway.

The father speaking to the 911 operator stated “that the cat has a history of violence”

When officers arrived and entered the house, the cat jumped atop the refrigerator where it was snared and placed into a pet travel carrier.  With the cat safely locked up in kitty jail, the animal was left with the family and it is not known what they intended to do with it.  The baby did suffer some scratches to the face but was not seriously injured.
