In court today Wonzey Saffold gave the middle finger to cameras twice. He very obviously and offensively gave the double finger to cameras which can be seen on WXYZ.com. This is the type of mentality that must and needs to change in Detroit once and for all.
Another development in the preliminary hearing today was that a witness to the beating became uncooperative. He was jailed on $500,000 bond. Anton Sykes, 30, denied a statement prosecutors said he previously gave to police in an attempt to avoid testifying. 36th District Court Judge Thomas Jackson was in no mood to play. He ordered Sykes jailed. Jackson said Sykes was “defiant” and likely to disappear if released from the courtroom.
The judge asked the witness to “shut up” multiple times. When the witness continued to speak over Wayne County Assistant Prosecutor Lisa Lindsey and the judge, he said, “I say we should just lock him up.”
It is very obvious that there is no respect for life nor the courts when it comes to those entangled in this horrific beating of Steven Utash.
