DETROIT, MI – There are several who want the position of Wayne County Executive and Robert Ficano is one of them. You can call him anything from crazy to stupid to just plain bold. Ficano seems to think that the voters will forget his past mistakes.
Robert Ficano has allowed Wayne County to sink into debt to the tune of about $175 million dollars. The state is looking into the possibility of taking over Wayne County finances.
Former Detroit Police Chief Warren Evans filed paperwork to run against him. Wayne County Commissioner Kevin McNamara, Westland Mayor William Wild and State Rep. Phil Cavanagh have also submitted paperwork with Wayne County elections officials to run against Ficano.
Robert Ficano is under investigation for not one problem but several. It’s all about a $200,000 severance payment to former chief development officer Turkia Awada Mullin, the failed Wayne County Jail construction project that some have called the ‘Bob-Ma-Hall’ and a grand jury probe that netted convictions of four former Ficano appointees and a vendor. The feds are still poking sticks into this nest to find even more issues with the Ficano Administration.
Out of all of those who have filed to run, former Detroit Police Chief Warren Evans will be a worthy opponent.
