UPDATE: Monique Dillard-Bothuell was being held on a probation violation. She has since been released on a tether and home confinement.
DETROIT, MI – Charlie Bothuell’s stepmother, Monique Dillard-Bothuell, is in custody for a probation violation. She is on two years probation for a misdemeanor gun charge.
Upon a police search of the family home in Lafayette Park, a gun was discovered. Monique Dillard-Bothuell is on a two year probation sentence after being arrested in July 2013 for carrying a concealed weapon. In January, she pleaded guilty to purchasing a weapon without a permit, a misdemeanor, and was given probation. Dillard-Bothuell pleaded not guilty this morning in court.
Authorities are saying that Monique Dillard-Bothuell is the one that hid young Charlie Bothuell V in the basement as the search for him went on throughout metro Detroit. It was revealed in court today that Charlie Bothell V has told authorities that he had been verbally and physically abused. Authorities stated that they saw bumps and bruises on Charlie when he was taken for treatment at Children’s Hospital in Detroit.
Charlie Bothuell IV had been very vocal with the media prior to his son’s discovery. He has since been very silent.
Charlie Bothuell was released from Children’s Hospital of Detroit into the custody of his biological mother. His father, Charlie Bothuell IV is being denied contact with his son at this time. Authorities are taking their time in getting answers from the young boy. Charlie Bothuell IV also saw Child Protective Services remove two other children, a 4-year-old and a 10-month-old, from the home.
Charlie Bothuell was discovered hiding behind a 55-gallon drum while officers were executing their fourth search warrant on the Nicolet Place home in Lafayette Park Wednesday afternoon.
