WARREN, MI – An investigation is underway concerning photos that were posted to Instagram by students from various Macomb County school districts.
18 year old Kheir D. Maxwell and 17 year old Germaine T. Holt, Jr., are accused of obtaining nude or sexually explicit photographs of underage students without their consent and posting them to Instagram. 17 year old Deshawn M. Smalls is accused of creating an Instagram page in April and posting nude images of underage female students from high schools in Warren without their consent. All three are being charged as adults.
It is believed that the victims themselves took the photos and then sent them to their boyfriends and then they somehow ended up being posted to Instagram. The victims have been identified as ranging in age from 14 to 16 years old.
As the investigation has continued, three teens are believed to be the ones who created the account on Instagram and could face some very serious charges. Photos sent, received and posted online of minors could be considered child porn.
Investigators have not been able to identify all of the girls whose photos were posted. Some photos were taken a couple of years ago and have just now shown up online.
Parents are encouraged to speak with their children about this incident. Taking nude or partially selfies and sending them to boyfriends, friends and even girl friends can cause a great deal of trouble. It can follow them for life.
