ARMADA, MI – Funeral services have been set for April Millsap who was murdered Thursday July 24th, 2014 in Armada.
Because this senseless murder has gained both statewide and nationwide media attention, a large amount of people are expected to pay their respects for April during the visitation and funeral services.
As has been since the news story broke about the discovery of April’s body just off of the Macomb Orchard Trail, it is also expected that a great deal of media coverage will continue throughout the week.
The small but very tight knit community of Armada has been rocked to the core given the circumstances. They are not accustomed to the spot light that has been thrust upon them. A sign near the Macomb Orchard Trail that is made out of a large white sheet reads ‘We Will Not Live In Fear’.
Pink ribbons are being tied around the village of Armada in honor and memory of April Millsap. Those who are planning on attending the visitation and funeral services are asked to pin a small pink ribbon to their coat or shirt in remembrance.
Visitation will be will be 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday July 31st, 2014, with a 7 p.m. scripture service at:

April Dawn Millsap of Armada died Thursday, July 24, 2014 at the age of 14 years.
April was born January 2, 2000 in Wise County, Virginia. She completed the 8th grade at Armada Middle School and was ready to start her freshman year at Armada High School. April was confirmed on May 20, 2014 at St. Mary Mystical Rose Catholic Church in Armada, where she was active in the youth group and continued to grow in her faith. She loved reading, writing poetry and short stories, and animals. April was a loving girl, always there to help others.
She is survived by her beloved mother, Jennifer Millsap of Armada; dear father, Bobby Millsap of Anderson, Indiana; loving grandparents, Dennis (Jackie) LeVans of Florida and Bob (Linda) Millsap of Virginia; half sister, Amber Millsap of Virginia; stepfather, David Lichtenfelt and stepmother, Shelli Toombs; Aunt Melissa, Uncle Anthony LeVans, Uncle Michael LeVans, Aunt Jill LeVans and Aunt Jeanne Zeitlyn; many cousins; and boyfriend, Austin Albertson.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on August 1, 2014 at St. Mary Mystical Rose Catholic Church, 24040 Armada Ridge Road, Armada with the Rev. Fr. Chris Talbot, Rev. Fr. Bradley Forintos and Rev. Fr. Peter Siliako, celebrants.
Visitation will take place on Thursday, July 31, 2014 at Tiffany-Young and Hauss Funeral Home, 73919 North Avenue, Armada from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. with a 7 p.m. Scripture service.
Memorial tributes would be appreciated for April’s family.
You can donate to a Memorial Fund for April Millsap. At this time a total of $10,975 has been raised towards her funeral expenses. Contributions to the family for funeral expenses may also be done at any Fifth Third Bank. Checks may be made to “For the benefit of April Millsap.”
