ALPENA, MI – Classic cars, antique tractors and steam engines will all be on display this weekend in Alpena and everyone is invited to take part in seeing them.
If it’s classic cars that get you going, then your in luck ! There will be two places to see them on display.
First up is the 29th Annual Ramblin Rods/Big Boy Sweetheart Cruise on Friday. From 3:00 p.m. to 9 p.m. The public is invited to check out vintage cars, muscle cars, street rods, classic cars and more beginning at 3p.m. at the Ripley Street Big Boy.
Next on the weekend list is another chance to see even more classic cars. The 2nd Annual Thunder Bay Car Show, put on by Top Of Michigan Insurance, rolls into Mich-E-Key-Wis park on Saturday starting at 8:00 a.m.
If you need one more fix for something that has an engine, then head out to the 31st Annual Antique Tractor & Steam Engine Show.
The 3 day event includes a chicken dinner, bean soup (cooked in a cast iron kettle over a wood fire) on Saturday, pancake breakfast on Sunday, live music on Friday & Saturday evenings, and a flea market. All of that is starting on Friday.
Another event that takes place just 22 short miles west of Alpena is in the Village of Hillman, Michigan. They will be celebrating with the Victory Over Japan Day (V-J Day).
The event includes V-J Day, Crowning of the new Miss Hillman, a Parade and to top it all off Fireworks !
All of this takes place in downtown Hillman, Michigan starting at noon on Saturday, August 9th, 2014 and everyone is welcome to join the festivities.
