ALPENA, MI – Standing at the entrance to the Alpena Chamber of Commerce building on Chisholm Street are purple butterfly’s. The pillars to the building are wrapped in purple ribbon. This is all in advance to the Alpena Relay for Life event that takes place this weekend.
On Saturday, August 16th, 2014, starting at 10 am and ending 24 hours later on Sunday, August 17th, 2014, at 10 am the Relay For Life of Alpena County Cancer Walk will take place along the Maritime Heritage Trail in downtown Alpena. It is not to late to get involved in this great charity event.
The Relay For Life movement features community events that offer an inspiring opportunity to honor cancer survivors, promote how individuals can reduce their cancer risk, and raise money to help end cancer.
It is also a time to remember people lost to the disease, and honor people who have fought or are fighting cancer.
