The search warrant is sealed and police are not releasing very many details concerning today’s search of the properties.
Detectives have been on scene since about 10am this morning. It is believed that they are looking for something very specific.
Michigan State Police are heading up the search. Armada Police, Michigan State Police and the FBI are searching a residence and a plot of land.
Investigators executed a search warrant in July on a home located at 8744 Marquette Road in Wales Township, Michigan where they arrested a father and son on drug charges. Detectives are in the same area today searching neighbors properties to that of the Marquette Road home. They have been searching barns and fields alike.
Arrested were James Bernard VanCallis, 66, and James Donald VanCallis, 32, on those drug charges.
According to records 66 year old James Bernard Vancallis was convicted out of Mount Clemens 16th Circuit Court of second-degree criminal sexual conduct with a person under 13, and fourth-degree criminal sexual conduct with a person between 13 and 16 in 1995.
The younger VanCallis remains in the St. Clair County Jail. Both men are set for preliminary exams Tuesday, August 19th, 2014, in St. Clair County District Court.
April Millsap was beaten and strangled to death on Thursday, July 24th, 2014. She was murdered near the Macomb Orchard Trail in Armada, MI. She was found in a drainage ditch about 10 to 15 feet off of trail. The young girls body was located in the area of Fulton and Depot roads at 8:25 p.m.
According to police, the teenager went to walk her dog between 5:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. and did not return home. Her border collie, Penny, stayed with April until she was found by passing joggers.
The medical examiners report states that April died from Blunt Force Trauma to the head and Asphyxia due to neck compression.
