PRESQUE ISLE COUNTY, MI – Even in small towns like Rogers City and Alpena in north eastern Michigan, the peace can be shattered by just one individual.
After an extensive investigation, a 20 year old Alpena man has been identified as the person who allegedly committed a drive-by shooting in Rogers City.
- Assault With Intent to Murder
- Carrying a Dangerous Weapon With Unlawful Intent

Smith is facing a total of 13 charges. He allegedly fired multiple shots from a rifle at a home on Clair Street in Rogers City on June 4th, 2014.
In June, Smith was arrested following a car arson investigation that began in May. Police in Alpena arrested Smith on suspicion of arson and unlawful use of a motor vehicle.
According to police, an early 2000 model, dark blue, four–door Oldsmobile Alero was found abandoned near the intersection of Alfred and Huron streets on the north side of Alpena. Investigators said the inside of the car had extensive fire damage.
Damien Smith is facing charges in Alpena for:
- Auto theft – Smith allegedly set the vehicle on fire after stealing it
- Felonious Assault
- Carrying a Concealed Weapon
In July of 2012 Smith was convicted and given a year in jail for the Attempted Breaking and Entering of the Alpena Sportmen’s Club.
In this undated photo from a MySpace page that Damien Smith has, it is evident that he likes to portray himself as a gang banger as he flashes gang signs in it. His screen name being northside_boy420.
It is easy to see that he identifies with being from the north side of Alpena and that marijuana (420) is something that he glorifies. Reading the language of the streets is not difficult if you know what you are looking for.
If convicted on any or all of the charges, Smith is facing a number of years behind bars.
