Two Women Arrested Following Vehicle Break-Ins

FORT GRATIOT TOWNSHIP, MI – Two Burtchville Township women are in St. Clair County Sheriffcustody, following a string of cars being broken into in Fort Gratiot’s Old Farms subdivision.

According to St. Clair County Sheriff Tim Donnellon, residents have reported numerous cars being broken into over the past 3-4 days.

Shortly before 1:00 a.m. a citizen called St. Clair County Central Dispatch saying someone had broken into their vehicle, and her husband was trying to detain the suspects.

The suspects were able to get back to their vehicle. The man tried stopping them by getting in front of their vehicle, but nearly got ran over. He was able to get a license plate number as the vehicle left the area. Deputies were given the plate number, vehicle description and description of the suspects.

About 20 minutes later, deputies made a traffic stop on that vehicle on Lakeshore Road. Items stolen from several vehicles were found inside the vehicle. Narcotics were also found. A search warrant was then executed at the suspect’s home in the 7100 block of Lakeshore Road. More stolen items were located in the home.

The women, ages 19 and 21, were arrested and transported to the St. Clair County Intervention and Detention Center.

They are expected to be arraigned Sunday in Port Huron’s 72nd District Court on multiple larceny, larceny from vehicle and possession of marijuana charges.

In addition, a request for the charge of resisting and obstructing is being sought for the 19 year old, while a felonious assault charge is being requested for the 21 year old.
