GRAND RAPIDS, MI – Meijer has announced that they need to fill 4,800 job openings in Michigan. The upcoming holiday season and more stores in 2015 prompts the need for additional team members.
The retailer is looking to fill positions as it gears up for the fall and holiday seasons. An estimated 350 to 400 jobs need to be filled in the Lansing region alone.
Meijer stated that the 4,800 Michigan positions are among more than 10,000 it wants to fill at all of its stores in five states, including Illinois, Indiana, Ohio and Kentucky.
Meijer stores are open 24 hours, and only close on Christmas Day. While staffing needs vary from store to store, positions are available at all Meijer stores.
While traditional retail positions such as stockers and cashiers are needed, there are also opportunities in more specialized roles such as meat cutters and cake decorators. Many Meijer team members have begun in entry-level roles and grown into full-time and leadership positions. Meijer spokesman Frank Guglielmi said positions start at minimum wage but increase based on experience.
Most of the 10,000 jobs are part-time and seasonal, but, the company added, some of those jobs could become full-time.
Michigan: 4,800 team members

Ohio: 1,700 team members

“Meijer is always looking for good people,” Janet Emerson, executive vice president of operations, said in a statement. “Our continued growth provides a great opportunity to find new team members who will help deliver on the Meijer promise of providing exceptional customer service”
