GRAND RAPIDS, MI – Kathy Sue Eastman, 60-years-old, who was charged in August with 1st degree criminal sexual assault along with her husband, Jerry Eastman, has died of a brain aneurysm.
She was scheduled to have a preliminary exam this coming week on the Criminal Sexual Conduct charges.
Kathy Eastman went into cardiac arrest while being lodged at the Kent County Correctional Facility. She also suffered a brain aneurysm. She had been on life support. She was taken off life support at Spectrum Health Butterworth Hospital on Sunday, Sept. 7th, 2014, after a ruptured brain aneurysm left her in a coma.
Kathy Eastman and her husband Jerry Eastman were charged with five counts related to the alleged assaults, including first and second degree criminal sexual conduct, as well as aiding and abetting criminal sexual conduct, after a 13-year-old relative claimed the couple had sexually assaulted him for years.
Other relatives have also come forward with allegations of abuse.
