Police in Search of Vehicle Involved in Fatal Crash

DETROIT, MI – The Detroit Police Department is seeking the public’s assistance in identifying and locating an unknown driver of a sky blue Chevy Caprice that sideswiped a green GMC pick-up and ultimately caused a fatal crash.

On September 7th, 2014, at approximately 8:30 p.m., a green GMC pick-up truck was traveling southbound on Gratiot approaching Filbert, when according to witnesses, the truck was struck on the passenger side by a (custom painted) sky blue Chevy Caprice that was speeding southbound on Gratiot.

The impact caused the truck to drive into the northbound lanes of Gratiot, causing a secondary head-on impact with a blue Chevy Impala that was traveling northbound on Gratiot.

The driver of the Impala was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the truck was conveyed to the hospital and suffered non-fatal injuries. The passenger in the blue Impala was also taken to the hospital and has non-life threatening injuries.

Wanted: Black male driver, of a custom painted sky blue Chevy Caprice, the vehicle is raised, has accident damage on the driver side of the vehicle and was last seen traveling westbound on Loretto from Gratiot.
