ALPENA, MI – Gordon Victor Worth was sentenced this week by Judge Michael Mack to a single count of sodomy/bestiality. Worth did plead no contest to the charge. Worth was charged with sodomy/bestiality for allegedly having inappropriate contact with a dog on at least two occasions.
Worth had plead guilty as charged on Monday, August 4th but 26th Circuit Court Judge Michael Mack would not accept the plea because Worth would not admit to the sodomy of a dog.
The owners of the dog had became suspicious of Worth and rigged the dog with a recording device which is how he was eventually caught and then charged with the crime. Prosecutor Ed Black said the recording clearly revealed that Worth had sexual contact with the animal.
It is known that at least one of the encounters occurred on April 29th, 2014 at Worth’s home in Alpena Township.
The owners of the dog were in court for Worth’s sentencing and were concerned that Worth was not taking ownership of his conduct. Judge Mack agreed calling Worth’s conduct “highly despicable.”
Judge Mack, going against recommendations of the Department of Corrections, sentenced Worth to 60 days in jail and placed him on 18 months probation. He was also ordered to perform 40 hours of community service, must register as a sex offender and not be around animals. Gordon Worth could have saw as much as 15 years in prison for his conduct.
