Alpena Downtown Development Authority Holds Chowder Cook-off

ALPENA, MI – Culligan Plaza  in downtown Alpena came alive with the sound of music and where several local foodies were vying for the coveted spot of top chowder chef.Chowder Cook-off

The chowder cook-off was the first ever event of its kind in the area.

Congratulations to Ryan Barnard and the Courtyard.  Ryan and the Courtyard were deemed Chowder Champion’s of the first annual DDA Chowder Cook-off.

The cook-off was held from noon to 3pm on Saturday October 11th, 2014 in the very heart of downtown Alpena.

It was $10 to get in to taste the various creations.

Many found the occasion to be fun on such a beautiful fall day and they are all looking forward to next years contest.

Sponsors of the event were Neimans Family Market, Huron Distributors and the  Alpena Downtown Development Authority.

Eight entries made up the mix of professionals and individuals from the area.

The Court Yard Restaurant, Black Sheep Tavern, North Peak Brewing Company and The Thunder Bay Winery were all on hand for the event.
