CASCO TOWNSHIP – A Chesterfield Township woman is hospitalized in critical condition after stepping in front of a semi-truck.
According to St. Clair County Sheriff Tim Donnellon, the incident occurred shortly after 11:30 this morning. The 48-year-old woman was in her vehicle on westbound I-94 near Church Road. She stepped out of her vehicle and stepped directly into the path of a westbound semi-tractor trailer.
Deputies from the Sheriff’s Office, with assistance from Memphis Police, Ira Township Fire and Rescue and Richmond-Lenox EMS went to the location and immediately closed down traffic on westbound I-94. The woman was taken McLaren Mt. Clemens Hospital and later transported to Detroit Receiving Hospital.
I-94 is now open for traffic. The incident remains under investigation. The driver of the semi was not injured.
