WYOMING, MI – Serious felony charges are being handed to three Grandville High School students for an incident that happened in September that went viral on the internet.
An investigation was launched after sexually explicit pictures involving Grandville High School students surfaced on social media. The pictures allegedly show two individuals involved in a sexual act with several others standing nearby watching.
The two teens in the photograph are now facing gross indecency charges. Gross Indecency is a felony that carries a maximum penalty of 5 years in the State Penitentiary.
The person who took the photo is being charged with possession of child sexually abusive material. That charge is equal to producing or having child pornography. This offense carries a possible penalty of up to 4 years in prison, or a fine of not more than $10,000, or both. Under the Michigan Sex Offenders Registration Act, this is a Tier I listed offense.
The students’ names are not being released.
