The Last Sail of the Season

ALPENA, MI – No one really ever wants to say goodbye to summer especially when the items that we enjoy have to be put away for winter in storage.IMG_7464-1

Temperatures were mild enough yesterday but that’s all about to change.

The forecast is calling for much colder weather over the next several days.  So that is why these three took their last sail of the season before putting their boat away for winter.

They were noticed out in Thunder Bay just off the shoreline from the Alpena Small Boat Harbor.  The beautiful sail makes us long for warmer days that have passed us by for the summer that is now behind us and the winter that is in our future.

Another reminder that winter is just ahead of us is that today is “Shake Your Mailbox Day” in Michigan.  This is the day that you check your mailbox supports and mailboxes to make sure they can withstand whatever ugliness that Mother Nature plans to throw at us.

The Road Commission and the Postal Service are also reminding residents that now is a good time to replace loose hinges on your mailbox door and to replace or add reflective numbers so postal workers and emergency responders can easily find your address.
