Rollover Crash Kills 2 Elderly Women in Kent County

ALTO, MI – Two elderly people have died as a result of a two vehicle accident that caused a pickup truck to rollover in rural Kent County.police

The accident happened around 4:45 p.m. Saturday, October 25th, 2014 at the intersection of Pratt Lake and 64th St. SE.

A minivan with two elderly occupants, 78-year-old Hazel Scobey and 63-year-old Lois Peterson, both from Middleville, was heading southbound on Pratt Lake Avenue when their vehicle failed to yield the right of way at the intersection.

A 2003 Dodge Ram pickup truck, driven by 42-year-old Richard Seelye of Clarksville, traveling eastbound on 64th Street struck the minivan broadside causing the Dodge Ram to rollover.

Both women in the minivan died as a result of their injuries.

Richard Seelye and his passenger 37-year-old Miranda Nash of Clarksville were both transported to Metro Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Deputies do not believe that alcohol or speed were contributing factors in this accident.
