ALPENA, MI – The City of Alpena Police Department would like to remind City residents that vehicles cannot be parked on City streets between the hours of 3 a.m. and 6 a.m., from November 1 through April 1. This prohibition is necessary so the City can thoroughly plow City streets during the winter months.
Vehicles that are parked on a City street during the prohibited time period can be ticketed; and, if the vehicles interfere with snow plowing, those vehicles can be impounded at the owner’s expense.
Please help the City with its snow plowing efforts by not parking in the street during the prohibited time period. Overnight parking of vehicles in City lots is prohibited regardless of the time of year unless a permit has already been issued.
Police officers may allow citizens to park a vehicle on the street during this period if extenuating circumstances exist. Citizens who believe they have extenuating circumstances must contact the police department. Unless the department grants permission to park on the street, the vehicle will be ticketed and possibly towed.
