CHESTERFIELD TOWNSHIP, MI – Michael James Kelly, 27-years-old, of Clinton Township was killed Friday night shortly after 8pm, October 31st, 2014 , in a two car vehicle accident in Chesterfield Township.
Michael Kelly was driving a 2003 Dodge Stratus south bound on Gratiot Avenue near Leona Drive in New Baltimore about 8:05 p.m.
He lost control of his car and traveled into the north bound lanes of Gratiot Avenue.
As he traveled into the north bound lanes into oncoming traffic, his vehicle collided with a 2014 Lincoln driven by a man from Armada Township. Kelly’s car then traveled further hitting a building where it came to finally stop according to Chesterfield Township Police.
Kelly was transported to McLaren-Macomb Hospital in Mt. Clemens where he later died.
The driver of the Lincoln is identified by police as an on-duty Chesterfield Township firefighter who lives in Armada. He was en route from one station to another.
The driver of the Lincoln was also transported to the hospital and treated for minor injuries. His name has not been released by authorities.
The accident remains under investigation.
