DETROIT, MI – There are many unanswered questions in the tragic death of a 9-year-old Detroit boy after he dies from playing with a loaded gun in his own home.
The shooting happened around 5pm Saturday, November 8th, 2014 at a home in the 16100 block of Northlawn Street on the west side of Detroit.
Chief James Craig did go to the scene and is very troubled as to why and how this young boy found access to a loaded weapon.
The 9-year-old was in the home with a 10-year-old and a 13-year old. No adult was at the residence when the shooting occurred. Charges of child neglect could be filed against the parent(s). Chief Craig said that his department will be taking a close look at that possibility.
The boy was taken to Sinai Grace Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
