Portage Police Arrest Barricaded Subject in Domestic Disturbance

KALAMAZOO COUNTY, MI – On November 17th, 2014 at 6:25 p.m., the Portage Department of Public Safety was dispatched to a domestic disturbance in the 400 block of New Hampshire. Upon arrival, officers interviewed a female victim of a felonious assault. police-investigation

The 39-year-old male suspect, who was possibly armed with a knife or handgun, had barricaded himself in the attic of the residence.

A Michigan State Police K-9 officer and officers with the Kalamazoo Metro Swat Team were called to assist.

After the use of chemical agents, the suspect was taken into custody without further incident at approximately 11:47 p.m.

The suspect was lodged at the Kalamazoo County Sheriff’s Department, and charges will be forwarded to the Kalamazoo County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office.
