Teen Avoids serious injuries in Crash with Train in St. Clair County

KIMBALL TOWNSHIP, MI – A teenager avoided serious injuries on November 25th, 2014 in an early morning crash with a train in St. Clair County.Canadian National Railway

According to St. Clair County Sheriff Tim Donnellon, Samantha Schram, 18-years-old, of Shelby Township was northbound on Range Road near Griswold Road, when she drove her vehicle into the side of a westbound train at about 2:45 a.m.

The vehicle bounced off the train and went into the ditch on the west side of the road. Schram apparently drove around the crossing arms before colliding with the train.

Representatives from CN Railroad were called to the scene. They checked the warning signal and stated it was working at the time of the crash.

Schram was issued a citation at the scene for driving around the railroad warning gates.

Kimball Township Fire and Rescue and Tri-Hospital EMS also assisted at the scene of the crash.
