ALPENA, MI – Several runners braved the cold, wind and lots of snow this Thanksgiving morning to run in the 12th Annual Dork Brothers Turkey Trot 5K Run/Walk in Alpena.
Alpena officially received 11 inches of snow. It was still snowing and 24 degrees when the Turkey Trot stepped off on Woodward Avenue at 9:00am.
One participant was injured when they fell on the icy road way on Woodward Avenue at the beginning of the race. Several other runners also fell on various parts of the course but none seemed to be injured.
This event helps to support local food pantries & the homeless shelter.
