FLINT, MI – Flint Police are holding to a promise in posting the names and photos of suspected prostitutes and their john’s on Facebook after they are arrested and arraigned.
The Flint Police Department posted on their Facebook page on October 3rd, 2014 that they were going to start making very public the names and arrest photos of suspected prostitutes and the john’s on Facebook when they are arrested.
As of today, December 2nd, 2014 it appears that they mean business.
On November 11th, 2014, Flint Police conducted a special initiative targeting prostitution in the City of Flint.
Several subjects were arrested as a result of that initiative. As of today, December 2nd, 2014, one of those subjects, Gregory Curry, 30-years-old, has been charged and arraigned for Soliciting Prostitution.
His photo seems to be the first of many to come.
There are mixed reactions to the posting of the information to Facebook but it will certainly deter others if they are thinking of soliciting for prostitution.
The Flint Police Department is allowed by law to do this because those who have been arrested and arraigned are a matter of public record. Police believe the public notifications will be effective because the public embarrassment will be a deterring factor.
