WORTH TOWNSHIP, MI – The suspect in the Armed Robbery that occurred at the Sunrise Marathon Station located at 7434 S. Lakeshore Road in Worth Township on November 29th, 2014 has been arrested.
Sanilac County Detectives were notified that Center Line Police had a suspect in custody matching the description of the Worth Township Marathon robbery. The suspect was apprehended by Center Line Police on December 2nd, 2014 in the afternoon after pulling a similar armed robbery at a gas station in their area.
The suspect, a 26-year-old Croswell area man was transported to the Macomb County Jail, where Sanilac Detectives responded today and interviewed him regarding the Worth Township Marathon case. The suspect, who was wearing a red hooded sweatshirt, dark-colored blue jeans and a face mask at the time of the armed robbery, confessed to committing the crime. The suspect remains in custody at the Macomb County Jail without bond on multiple charges with a hold placed by Sanilac County.
The Sheriff’s Office was assisted with the investigation by the Sanilac County Drug Task Force Investigative Unit, the Lexington Police Department, Croswell Police Department, Port Sanilac Department of Public Safety, Michigan State Police-Caro Post and Michigan DNR Law Enforcement Division.
