BURTCHVILLE TOWNSHIP, MI – The suspect in a pair of armed robberies in Lakeport last month is in custody.
According to St. Clair County Sheriff Tim Donnellon, a 26-year-old man from the Croswell area is in the Macomb County Jail.
He was originally arrested on December 2nd by Centerline Police following three armed robberies in that community.
Once he was picked up on those charges, Sanilac County Sheriff’s Office Detectives were given information that he may be responsible for the armed robbery of the Sunrise Convenience Store in Lexington Heights. Further information led Detectives from St. Clair County Sheriff’s Office to the Macomb County Jail.
After interviewing the man, there is enough evidence to believe he is the one responsible for both armed robberies at the Mobil Mart Store on Lakeshore Road. The two robberies took place on November 7th and November 27th. In both incidents, the suspect came into the store, brandished a knife and demanded money. In the second, he also demanded cigarettes. No one was injured in either robbery.
The suspect will face charges in Macomb, Sanilac and St. Clair Counties. He is also currently on parole after being convicted on several felonies, including home invasion, in Oakland County. He was placed on parole in June of this year.
