Zilwaukee Bridge reconstruction wraps up in Saginaw County


SAGINAW COUNTY, MI – After several months of detours, the I-75 and Zilwaukee Bridge reconstruction is complete.Zilwaukee Bridge

The project was started in October of 2013 and was completed as of December 3rd, 2014.




The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) is wrapping up work on I-75 and on lanes across the Zilwaukee Bridge (Z-Bridge). All lanes on northbound I-75 through Saginaw County reopened on December 3rd, 2014.

Crews reconstructed 4 miles of northbound I-75 and replaced bearing pads on the northbound lanes of the Z-Bridge during the 2014 construction season. Work on the $70 million investment included reconstructing I-75 between the north and south junctions of I-675, replacing the Janes Road bridge and repairing the Wadsworth Road and CSX Railroad bridges.

MDOT also improved guard rails and storm drainage, along with completing pavement restoration and shoulder work on all of the Z-Bridge ramps.
