Ingham County Sheriff’s Deputy Killed in the Line of Duty


STOCKBRDIGE TOWNSHIP, MI – In a press release, Ingham County Sheriff Gene Wriggelsworth states that Deputy Grant Whitaker was killed in the line of duty while in pursuit of a suspect vehicle on Sunday, December 7th, 2014.Death Investigation-4

At 2:11am Deputy Grant William Whitaker, 25-years-old, was pursuing a vehicle eastbound on Dexter Trail about a mile east of M-52 when his patrol vehicle left the road and struck a tree.




Deputy Whitaker had worked at the Ingham County Sheriff’s Office for about one and a half years.  Whitaker had also worked at the Stockbridge Police Department previously.

Sheriff’s officials said Whitaker was among two deputies who were pursing the suspect.  The vehicle they were pursuing has not been located. The Michigan State Police are conducting a criminal investigation.
