Update to Kingsley Middle School Lockdown incident

TRAVERSE CITY, MI – On December 8th, 2014 Jesse Finch, 38-years-old, was arraigned in 86th District Court. He was charged with Resisting and Obstructing Police. A preliminary exam date was set for December 22nd, 2014 at 11:30am.Kingsley Middle School

At 12:10 p.m. on December 5th, 2014 the Kingsley Middle School received information that an upset parent may be coming to the school to pick up his child.

Grand Traverse Sheriff’s Deputies responded to the school to assure the safety of those at the school.

Additional deputies were able to locate Jesse Finch several miles away near his residence.

Finch was unarmed and gave no information that would allow a detention or arrest by deputies. The school was in lock down until 1:20 p.m.

At approximately 3 p.m. Jesse Finch arrived at Kingsley Middle School and entered the front office area. A deputy, who was at the school, made contact with him.

Finch refused several commands, including repeated requests to remove his hands from his pockets. As the deputy attempted to check him for weapons, the subject began to resist and fight with the deputy. Jesse Finch was subdued and arrested for Resisting and Obstructing Police and Disorderly Conduct.

He was taken to the Grand Traverse County Jail. No weapons were found on the man.
