LEELANAU COUNTY, MI – The suspect arrested for stabbing her husband during an argument Sunday night has been released from jail.
Nancy L. Heffernan, 49-years-old, of Maple City was charged by the Leelanau Prosecutor’s Office with Attempted Assault with a Dangerous Weapon, a 2 year felony. Bond was set at $10,000/10% and was posted by the man she stabbed, her husband.
Leelanau deputies responded to a call from the victim Sunday night. He told them that Heffernan stabbed him in the upper torso with a steak knife during a domestic dispute. Deputies observed a 1″ puncture wound in the victim’s chest cavity. He was transported by Cedar Rescue and was treated and released at Munson Medical Center.
Bond conditions include no contact with the victim, daily breath tests and periodic urine screens and no return to the marital home.
