Calhoun County Father dies after being Assaulted by Son

HOMER, MI – On Friday December 5th, 2014 at approximately 7:00am deputies were dispatched to an address in the 22,000 block of T. Drive South in the township of Clarendon for a domestic assault complaint in which one individual,  John David Bartley, 64-years-old from Homer was unconscious and not breathing on his own. police

Upon arrival, deputies discovered emergency personnel on scene performing CPR on the Mr. Bartley.

The son of the victim, a 33-year-old resident of the home was interviewed and admitted to being involved in the assault.

He was taken into custody and lodged at The Calhoun County Jail for Aggravated Domestic Assault.

The victim was initially transported to Oaklawn Hospital of Marshall, however was later transferred to Borgess Hospital in Kalamazoo where he died on December 10th, 2014

An autopsy has been conducted with the cause of death not yet being released. Additional charges may be sought against the 33-year-old suspect pending the outcome of the investigation.
